Alaska

This is a picture of a field of hay. I was really into the hay in Alaska. This field was grass the first morning I was there, and mown into rows by the evening. What's crazy about the place is that the growing season is really short, but a lot grows. This obviously has to do with the fact that much of the summer it is light ALL THE TIME. This is the field where I spent sunset my second night. It was 10:30, and I just sat on these rows of hay and looked at the sky. It was pretty magical.


The first night we camped in Alaska at this lake. It was gratuitously lovely.

To combat the beauty, I give you, fine readers, this. So many little lives lost....


This was the last place we stopped before entering Canada. Gas is crazy expensive in Canada, and that coupled with the weakening American dollar (I don't really know what that means...), made it important to fill up before crossing the border. This gas station claimed, in flashing lights and arrows, to be the last stop before the border. Right around the corner: a Shell or a Chevron or something. We were fooled!
