Today we did this:

more or less. I'm not exactly sure where the trail ran.

I just can't stop loving dirty dishes. I just can't.

Clean ones too, are pretty cool...

This is the first time I've wanted to take pictures of dishes here in our sublet. Interesting.

I've been trying to figure out how to take pictures and have them look the way I see them. I suppose that's always the trick with taking pictures, or any kind of art/communication, but I mean it in a very basic way. I'm still trying to figure out how to make my camera do certain things. About a thousand pictures later, and I'm finally figuring out how to use the manual focus. Also, this is the first time I've really taken pictures in color. To put a finer point on it, it's the first time I've worked with color and been able to manipulate it beyond just framing the shot.

Next stop, PhotoShop.

Taste Of Noho, Yo--After

And the wreckage that followed.

Asparagus

I love asparagus. I love it. I especially love it broiled a little too long. The tops get crispy and nutty, and you can pull the skin off and eat the stringy insides.

Sometimes I eat it raw, taking one piece the way I used to take a spaghetti noodle and soften it in my mouth while the water was boiling. It makes me feel like I'm eating grass.
A few weeks ago we woke at 4:30 to the sounds of bird chirping and a couple arguing loudly outside the window. It was mostly the man's voice, repeating things over and over (I told you that, I told you that, I told you that; yes you did, yes you did, yes you did; etc.). Am I making it up that I think I heard him outside again just now?

Taste Of Noho, Yo--Before

We traveled to Northampton this weekend to visit our favorite Boston(ish) couple. They had each just gotten new bikes, so we all biked from their home in NoHo to Amherst where, by coincidence and wonderful luck, Taste of Amherst was going on. Tasty tasty.

More Birds

I fed this little guy some shortbread, and he still wouldn't pose for me...

Make Way for Goslings?

The other day after work we took a ride along the river. There's a paved path along both sides, and we went traveled out on the Boston side and back on the Cambridge side. Although you can't beat the view of the Boston skyline as you go along the Cambridge side, the Boston side has more going for it: the paving is smoother, it's away from traffic, there are more trees, and there are goslings. Although the goslings will grow up to be loud, cranky, hissing, mean geese that cover the ground with crap, they are cute as little things.

Now accepting challenges...

What should I take pictures of?

I love Google

I do this a lot. Thinking of it as a game was (unconsciously) inspired by the movie I just saw, Wordplay.

First one to answer gets a prize. First one to answer correctly gets two.

And?

Me: I love you
KJ: A bushell and a peck
Me: And?
KJ: A hug around the neck
Me: And?
KJ: A barrel and a squeeze?
Me: And?
KJ: A baby on your knees?

I had the camera resting on my chest during this conversation, with the shutter opened for 15 seconds. I laughed, and this picture was the result.

Around Town

These are our treacherous stairs. Three flights up. And it's been hot out.

A little distance, and I'm starting to like some of these pictures again. Sadly, many of my favorites cannot be posted, as they contain people and no consent.
